VISION BOARD CHECK-IN
What is a Vision Board?
First things first, let’s talk about what a vision board actually is.
A vision board is a visual representation of your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
It’s a collage of images, words, and phrases that inspire and motivate you to work towards your desired future.
The idea behind a vision board is that by surrounding yourself with images and words representing what you want to achieve, you can manifest those desires into reality.
Moreover, many people create their vision boards using magazine cutouts and printed images and hang them up in their rooms or bathrooms.
In my case, I chose to create my vision board on PowerPoint. My board has a lot of details therefore I have a slide for each of the categories of my life.
Categories I Include on my Vision Board:
- Health (morning routines, exercise goals, doctor visits)
- Relationships (partner, family, friends, colleagues, mentors)
- Finance (debt-free, emergency fund, downpayment, salary)
- Personal Development (books and conferences)
- Spirituality (mediation, journaling)
- Character Traits (what traits I want to develop)
- Experiences I Want To Live (ex: cooking classes, traveling, learning a new language)
- 10 Dreams I Made Happen (I write these 10 dreams in my journal every day)
In addition, I use Canva elements to make my vision board look pretty and tailor it to my style. Having a vision board that makes you feel excited and happy helps keep the focus and drive.
Most importantly, you need to make sure you have your vision board in a place you will see it every day. This ensures a constant reminder of your goals and the journey you’re embarking upon.
Bonus: Make a slide for each month on your vision board. Write each activity and goal you accomplished during that month. This allows you to visually see your progress and serves as a constant reminder to live your life fully.

Why Vision Boards Work
Some people are skeptical that vision boards work and they decide not to do them.
But, there’s some science behind why vision boards can be effective. You see, our brains respond strongly to visual stimuli.
For instance, when we see images that represent our goals, it activates the part of our brain responsible for motivation and goal-setting.
Plus, having a visual reminder of our goals can help keep them top-of-mind, making us more likely to take action towards achieving them.
I’ve been making vision boards for over 5 years, and at the end of each year, I look back to see what I’ve achieved. I’m always amazed at how many things on my vision board I accomplish each year.
Without a doubt, vision boards help keep you on track, but the key is putting in the effort. Goals aren’t achieved just by wishing; you need to create a plan and make them happen.
Most importantly, a vision board helps you hit your goals by keeping your aspirations top-of-mind.
Ultimately, the process of creating a vision board can clarify your objectives and inspire strategic planning, making it easier to track progress and stay on course toward achieving your goals.
The Power of a Mid-Year Check-In
Now that we understand the basics of vision boards, let’s talk about why a mid-year check-in is so important.
At the beginning of the year, we’re full of enthusiasm and motivation. But as time goes on, life can get in the way, and our goals can start to feel distant or unattainable.
Hence, the mid-year vision board check-in.
A mid-year vision board check-in is important because it helps you see how far you’ve come and what you still want to achieve.
In addition, it gives you a chance to adjust your goals and plans for the rest of the year, keeping you focused and motivated.
By taking the time to revisit your vision board halfway through the year, you can assess your progress, identify any areas where you may have fallen off course, and make adjustments as needed to get back on track.

- Gather Your Materials: Pull out your vision board and any other materials you used to create it, such as magazines, scissors, glue, etc.
